Positive Outcomes, NOT Lost Possibilities

Dreamers see the positive and possible in the world. The downside is you see all the flaws and missed opportunities when something does not reach its full potential. You end up stuck in an unintentional mental model of how something ‘should’ work.

Sometimes we need to align expectations with realistic outcomes and reframe the problem. You may not be the only one steering a project. You may not be the only one with expectations. You may not be the most crucial cog. Don’t dwell on, or get frustrated with, what is out of your control.

Not everything will reach its full potential in round one. Athletes strive for, but don’t expect, perfection. Not every kick scores a goal. Not every punch is a knockout.

“A fight is not won by one punch or kick. Either learn to endure or hire a bodyguard”

Bruce Lee
  • ⏱ Set constraints, reduce expectations and find the positive in progression. The fact that the needle is moving is a positive.
  • 🧠 Applying an intentional mental model (steps to think through problems and processes) gives you a way to use a specific thought process, or perspective. Find new angles for a positive outlook.
  • ✅ It’s not always excitement and passion. Some things in life are ‘must do’ box-ticking exercises. Tick the box and move on quickly. Apply your passion elsewhere.
